Wisdom According to King Solomon

Side note: If you want to read the entire Wisdom of Solomon book, I suggest you to. It is a part of the Apocrypha. This section is a bit lengthy, take a break from reading if you must.

When God established the earth, He used wisdom to do so. 📝My definition of wisdom is applied knowledge.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:12 Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away: yea, she is easily seen of them that love her, and found of such as seek her. To have wisdom (which is very important) you have to want and need her first. No man can cultivate wisdom on his own. 🥄Most people operate in worldly wisdom which is like a metal spoon being passed around to everyone who needs to eat what the world offers.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:13 She preventeth them that desire her, in making herself first known unto them. In context of this scripture, the word “prevent” means “(of God) go before someone with spiritual guidance and help”, according to the Bible. Wisdom is referred to as a woman because she supports you and nourishes your spirit when you submit to her teachings and are in awe of them. Your heart must be opened to her or else you will turn into a scorner. She will lead you if you ask and you must refrain from doing it your own way.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:14 Whoso seeketh her early shall have no great travail: for he shall find her sitting at his doors. As a young person, if you look for wisdom she will eagerly come and be there for you. And when she is at your (spiritual) door there will be no travail (i.e. hardships) that you will have to partake of because she knows the foundation of the Lord God and his works abundantly.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:15-16 To think therefore upon her is perfection of wisdom: and whoso watcheth for her shall quickly be without care. For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, sheweth herself favorably unto them in the ways, and meeteth them in every thought. The thing about wisdom is that she is yet again depicted as a nurturer. She nourishes (definition: keep [a feeling or belief] in one’s mind), the knowledge and understanding of the world and the unseen world around us. She looks for those that are worthy because a lot of people if they truly knew her would take her captive or hostage and abuse her. But you first have to want her just as much as she wants you. It’s a bond that you have to form, because she loves the person who grows with her and not above her.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:17-19 For the very true beginning of her is the desire of discipline; and the care of discipline is love, And love is the keeping of her laws; and the giving heed unto her laws is the assurance of incorruption; And incorruption maketh us near unto God: Once again, wisdom is applied knowledge. If you have knowledge of something it needs to be applicable so that it will have a form and therefore it coming to life. In the book of Proverbs 24:3 it states that 🏠“by wisdom a house is built”, but to bring something to life forming it in its entirety, you must have a care for discipline. Because discipline is training yourself to obey the rules of said knowledge. It takes routine, skill, craftsmanship, order, structure, and strength. At the end of Jesus’ teaching at the very first start of his ministry in the book of Matthew 7:24, he said that “those who do as I have said today I will liken him as a wise man”, and the reason why he said this is because the love of wisdom is paying very close attention to her laws and following her instructions precisely. If you do this correctly, it will bring you closer to God. You will be closer to God because you have submitted yourself to the only living God who knows all and sees all.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:20-21 Therefore the desire of wisdom bringeth to a kingdom. If your delight be then in thrones and scepters, O ye kings of the people, honor wisdom, that ye may reign for evermore. King Solomon is saying here that if you are a King on earth, you should invite wisdom to your Kingdom, because there will always be another king on any throne and there will always be a man carrying a staff, 👑but the king who puts wisdom first (i.e. honor) will reign forever.

Wisdom of Solomon 6:22-24 As for wisdom, what she is, and how she came up, I will tell you and will not hide mysteries from you: but will seek her out from the beginning of her nativity, and bring the knowledge of her into light, and will not pass over the truth. Neither will I go with consuming envy; for such a man shall have no fellowship with wisdom. But the multitude of the wise is the welfare of the world: and a wise king is the upholding of the people. King Solomon introduced Wisdom in the previous verses, but now he is about to tell us the origin of wisdom. Side note: Nativity means the occasion of a birth. Interestingly, King Solomon said that he won’t envy the man who wants wisdom to himself, because wisdom is plentiful and won’t abhor others that want and need her. Then he says something so profound, that “the multitude of the wise is the welfare of the world”. If we look at the Tabernacle being built when Moses was leading the nation of Israel out of Egypt, the Bible states that there were wise men who knew how to build the tabernacle that God told Moses to build so He can be near to His chosen people (Exodus 36:1-5). They applied their knowledge that they cultivated in Egypt and did what was instructed of them. King Solomon also says that a wise king is the upholding of the people. A clear example of that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:8-9 I preferred her before scepters, and thrones, and esteemed riches nothing in comparison of her. Neither compared I unto her any precious stone, because all gold in respect of her is as a little sand, and silver shall be counted as clay before her. The 8th verse means that he wanted her before glory, fame, and fortune because those three things are dull compared to wisdom. That is very profound. The whole world longs for those three things, but wisdom is much more valuable and viable than that. He continues in the 9th verse stating that the currency of the world such as precious stone, gold, and silver is like sand compared to wisdom. We all should know that any form of currency that is backed by a substance, labor, or tangible item is what we all work for to survive and thrive in this world, but compared to wisdom those things are not as valuable or viable.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:10 I loved her above health and beauty, and chose to have her instead of light: for the light that cometh from her never goeth out. What more than any man or woman wants more than health and beauty? What can we do in this world without the light from the luminaries and technology? King Solomon says that wisdom is a light that never goes out; this is a spiritual statement. In the book of Genesis, the very first thing God said when He was creating everything for the 6 days was “Let there be light!” and it was so. But was it the sun or the moon or the stars type of light? No. It was the light that came from Him. Now, if that light came from Him, then what type of light is it? It is a foundational light. The light that allows you to remember your dreams when you wake up from your sleep. Scientists say that it takes “light years” to travel through space. Even though I don’t believe in that, that is a clear example of how vast the light that comes from the Heavenly Father is. 💡A light that never goes out is a foundational light.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:11-14 All good things together come to me with her, and innumerable riches in her hands. And I rejoiced in them all, because wisdom goeth before them: and I knew not that she was the mother of them. I learned diligently, and do communicate her liberally. I do not hide her riches. For she is a treasure unto men that never faileth: which they that use become the friends of God, being commended for the gifts that come from learning. From verse 11 to 12, King Solomon tells you the reason why he prefers wisdom overall and it is because she is the mother of all the riches of the earth, and she goes before them all. If you are before something or someone you lead a way to it. That’s why in earlier parts of the scripture, King Solomon said that she searches for those that are worthy and the ones who accept her and always keep her in mind. In verses 13 and 14 he backs up his claim of having no envy and never hiding who she is, because her riches, light, and beauty is for free and never ending! He also says that he speaks freely with her, open minded and open heatedly with wisdom. The person who has wisdom never fails at what they use her for when she teaches them, and they obey. 😁But most importantly, when wisdom is near anyone, they become a friend of God. And what better way to live our lives, being considered a friend to YAHWEH.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:15-17 God hath granted me to speak as I would, and to conceive as is meet for the things that are given to me: because it is her that leadeth unto wisdom, and directeth the wise. For in his hand are both we and our words; all wisdom also, and knowledge of workmanship. For he hath given me certain knowledge of the things that are, namely to know how the world was made, and the operation of the elements. Having and yearning for wisdom makes you a friend of God because God is the one who tells wisdom what to do, where to go, because He is the only one worthy of having her all to Himself. Now, if you follow the instructions wisdom gives you, you are also following the instructions God is giving you, because that’s where wisdom comes from (God). And in doing this, God will show you secrets and mysteries not known to ordinary people. 👐🏽You must go to The Heavenly Father to receive wisdom and no one else. James 1:5 says, “If anyone of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given unto him.” Side note: There is a wisdom in the kingdom of Darkness as well. But that type of wisdom will get you in deep trouble and the only one who is able to save you is Lord Jesus Christ. Choose wisely.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:22-23 For wisdom, which is the worker of all things, taught me: for in her is an understanding spirit, holy, one only, manifold, subtle, lively, clear, undefiled, plain, not subject to hurt, loving the things that is good quick, which cannot be letted, ready to do good, kind to man, steadfast, sure, free from care, having all power, overseeing all things, and going through all understanding, pure, and most subtle, spirits. Here King Solomon shines a light on the characteristics of wisdom. Understanding and holiness is Heavenly, there is only one wisdom herself and none other like her. The word “manifold” in Hebrew is “rebab” and what that means is variety and diverseness, starting from one source and spreading across all dimensions. Another way to put the word “subtle” is crafty or prudent, we can also add making fine distinctions, precise, and delicately complex and understated. All of the other characteristics are self-explanatory, but you can see that wisdom is really a beneficial factor in both the spirit and in the earth.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:24-26 For wisdom is more moving than any motion: she passeth and goeth through all things by reason of her pureness. For she is the breath of the power of God, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the Almighty: therefore can no defiled thing fall into her. For she is the brightness of the everlasting light, the unspotted mirror of the power of God, and the image of his goodness. The first sentence is so groundbreaking… Motion is constant, like the sea, and like sound waves which mimics the sea, is everywhere all at once. And she is so pure, that she goes through it all, from the darkness to light, overseeing all things and having true power from seeing the ins and outs of existence. The second sentence is supernatural and profound. She is the breath of the power of God. 🌊If God’s power is in His Word, then the motion of His word is wisdom! Thank you, Jesus!! The last sentence ties it all in, making it even better. The unspotted mirror of the power of God means (to me) the clear evidence of the goodness and Holiness of God. Whew! (I believe this is why they call it “insight” because you are seeing within).

Wisdom of Solomon 7:27-29 And being but one, she can do all things: and remaining in herself, she maketh all things new: and in all ages entering into holy souls, she maketh them friends of God, and prophets. For God loveth none but him that dwelleth with wisdom. For she is more beautiful than the sun, and above all the order of stars: being compared with the light, she is found before it. It is amazing to read that God loves those who are with wisdom. I believe that God loves all of those who are wise because wisdom is very close to Him and wisdom is the result of His mighty works, so those who yearn after wisdom and practice it daily are basically saying that God’s work is worthy, good, and everlasting.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:30 For after this cometh night: but vice shall not prevail against wisdom. This is because wisdom is brighter than any light.

Wisdom of Solomon 8:1-4 Wisdom reacheth from one end to another mightily: and sweetly doth she order all things. I loved her, and sought her out from my youth, I desired to make her my spouse, and I was a lover of her beauty. In that she is conversant with God, she magnifieth her nobility: yea, the Lord of all things himself loved her. For she is privy to the mysteries of the knowledge of God, and a lover of his works. These verses show the relationship that God has with wisdom. Wisdom is shown to expand across all dimensions. She helps God orders all things, putting it all in place with perfect precision and wonder. Understanding divine wisdom will show you a beauty most people do not perceive. And once you see wisdom for what she is, her beauty is magnified. The word conversant means ‘to be familiar with’, therefore wisdom is familiar with God, His works, and is knowledgeable of God and His works. God himself loves wisdom, and anyone who has wisdom He loves, because wisdom knows Him and is a lover of His works.

Wisdom of Solomon 8:5-7 If riches be a possession to be desired in this life; what is richer than wisdom, that worketh all things? And if prudence work; who of all that are is a more cunning workman than she? And if a man love righteousness her labors are virtues: for she teacheth temperance and prudence, justice and fortitude: which are such things, as men can have nothing more profitable in their life. Instead of desiring riches, fame, and glory, desire to be in a relationship with wisdom, because wisdom is applied knowledge, and in order for knowledge to be applied it has to be worked. The knowledge has to be labored to consider it wisdom, because after you apply the knowledge, you are then ahead of it therefore it is wisdom. If a person loves righteousness, then the labor of wisdom breeds a strong character in that person. Why is that? Because wisdom teaches those who love her self-control, the signs and times, fairness between all, and endurance. All of these things are profitable for anyone, because those attributes are what you need in order to be more abundant in this life.

Wisdom of Solomon 8:8 If a man desire much experience, she knoweth things of old, and conjectureth aright what is to come: she knoweth the subtilities of speeches, and can expound dark sentences: she foreseeth signs and wonders, and the events of seasons and times. Wisdom is ahead and behind all things. Wisdom knows the things of old and the things of new, because she is within everything old and new. Wisdom knows the underlying details and can give you an understanding of the bigger picture. She is ahead, over, and behind the curve. The seasons and times she already knows, because of the patterns of the old and the coming of the new. Remember that there is nothing new under the sun. Everything that is, has already been.

Wisdom of Solomon 8:9-10 Therefore I purposed to take her to me to live with me, knowing that she would be a counsellor of good things, and a comfort in cares and grief. For her sake I shall have estimation among the multitude, and honor with the elders, though I be young. King Solomon understood how important, how grand, how wonderful wisdom is and decided to take her into his home (which can probably be alluded to his soul or just his actual home).

Wisdom of Solomon 8:11-16 I shall be found of a quick conceit in judgment, and shall be admired in the sight of great men. When I hold my tongue, they shall bide my leisure, and when I speak, they shall give good ear unto me: if I talk much, they shall lay their hands upon their mouth. Moreover by the means of her I shall obtain immortality, and leave behind me an everlasting memorial to them that come after me. I shall set the people in order, and the nations shall be subject unto me. Horrible tyrants shall be afraid, when they do but hear of me; I shall be found good among the multitude, and valiant in war. After I am come into mine house, I will repose myself with her: for her conversation hath no bitterness; and to live with her hath no sorrow, but mirth and joy. Wisdom echoes through the ages and confounds the wise men of the world.

Wisdom of Solomon 8:17-18 Now when I considered these things in myself, and pondered them in my heart, how that to be allied unto wisdom is immortality; And great pleasure it is to have her friendship; and in the works of her hands are infinite riches; and in the exercise of conference with her, a good report, I went about seeking how to take her to me. Wisdom = Immortality = Abundance = Prudence = Good Report = YAHWEH.

When I think and ponder on how things are done, what was said to me, and why they are what/who they are, wisdom comes to minister to me, through the incredible power of the Holy Ghost, from the perspective of YAHWEH and the Lord Jesus Christ. When I continue to HUMBLE myself, and let wisdom lead me, I am led to the wonders of the world, the mysteries of YAH, and the power and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
