The Purpose of Death
As we have explored the purpose of life, which is to do good, we can examine what is the purpose of death, which is to do evil.
When the serpent spoke to Eve, he deceived her. In deception, people are blind to the truth. And blindness is a darkness that is alive. The Bible does say that, “Then the eyes of both of them were opened”, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit, but this is indicating that their carnal eyes were aware of their nakedness. We understand that God is a Spirit and when he input the breath of life (which is light) into the nostrils of Adam, that Man (and woman) was a walking spirit (full of light encompassing their entire being) here on Earth. Made from water and dust, but existing as a Spirit-Man with spiritual eyesight and spiritual habits. There is a reason why Apostle Paul tells us to “...walk in the spirit and you shall not satisfy the lust of the flesh” and the Apostle John says, “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” As Christ Jesus walked on water, Adam also did the same before the fall. How else would he be able to name all the creatures in the sea?
In the creation story, we understand that the light was separated from the dark. And therefore, the serpent knew that if he could separate the light from the body of the Man, men would forever be in darkness by committing evil deeds continually and be blind to the truth. Because the light came from God, which is good, and the dark is without light, which is void. Separation from God is death, which is why darkness was separated from the light. The Apostle James has wisely said that, “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.” Therefore, being Holy means to be separated from all forms of evil just as darkness is separated from the light. King Solomon quotes “For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; reproofs of instruction is the way of life”. The law of Moses was from the instruction and knowledge of God, which sheds light in the darkness of our hearts’ desires (lust of the flesh). Therefore, the commandment of God, which is the instruction from God, is a lamp which gives you the ability to “walk by faith and not by sight”. The Lord Jesus Christ explains that “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”. Here is the wisdom of the Lord; You cannot see good, if you cannot see God.
The Apostle John says that, "Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.” King David also sings in a psaltery that, “But mine eyes are unto you, O God the Lord: in you is my trust;”. Whatever you target and set your eye on, is where your body leads you. That is also why the Lord Jesus Christ told us that “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” If your eye is not set on the Heavenly Father, then your eye is set on darkness. And the amount of darkness depends on how much you desire the ways of the world. For lust is not satisfied, and you will continue to reap what you sow. The way in which you are led is your guidance, a lamp. And if your eye is leading you to sin then the sin was already conceived in your heart and mind before actions were taken. Just like how you put in an address into the GPS to give you directions to a location to see where you are going beforehand, it is the same with our intention to transgress the law of God and commit sin. If your direction in life is to do wickedness, your destination is judgment and/or hell, but if your direction is to be in Heaven, your destination is with Jesus Christ in whom we have access to get into Heaven (i.e. Jacob’s Ladder).
I have just explained why Christ said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” A lamp (the eye) is what we use to direct our paths in a place of darkness. Just make sure that the light in the lamp (the eye) is of God and not of Satan. And if you are blind to the truth, but can see carnally, how great is the deception in which you have set your eye upon? In the book of Leviticus we see that “the life is in the blood”, and therefore the life that God put inside Man-kind was supposed to be good, but because of sin, the life in the blood of men has turned into corruption, something that is expendable, which is now lost without the pure and powerful blood of Christ Jesus, the Savior of all man-kind, covering our sins and redeeming our souls. When we sin, it is like pouring a cup of water and then adding vinegar to the cup of water. The words of a man alters the blood of a man. If you speak good conversation to any creature, it grows and is built up in both spirit and body, but if you speak with a poisonous tongue to any creature, it corrupts their mind and weakens their spiritual element within it. King Solomon famously quoted, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” Evil communication is a dagger that cuts people slowly, bringing in darkness and eventually death.
